For food processing workshops, food hygiene and safety are essential. Therefore, the cleaning and disinfection of work uniforms has become an indispensable part of the daily process. So how should work uniforms in food factories be washed, and what laundry equipment is required? Shanghai Ruili Laundry Machinery will introduce a laundry room solution for food processing plants below.
Hygiene Standards and Work Uniforms Required for Food Factories
The cleanroom grades in food factories are generally Class 100 and Class 1000 cleanliness levels:
Class 100 cleanroom: Particles (≥0.5um) in a 1m3 space ≤ 100
Work uniform requirements for Class 100 cleanrooms: Cover hair with a cap\No exposed beard\Wear coveralls\Wear boot covers and gloves
Class 1000 cleanroom: Particles (≥0.5um) in a 1m3 space ≤ 1000
Work uniform requirements for Class 1000 cleanrooms: Cover hair with a cap\No exposed beard\Wear two-piece uniforms.
Work uniform set provided by the food factory: Total washing weight is approximately 1.3kg (shoes and boots are washed separately)
The food factory provides a laundry room working time of 4 hours
| Item Name | Weight per Piece |
|---|---|
| Light-Colored Work Uniform | 0.5kg |
| Pants | 0.3kg |
| Hair Cap | 0.2kg |
| Shoes and Boots (Washed Separately) | 2kg |
| Mask | 0.1kg |
| Apron | 0.1kg |
| Sleeve Covers | 0.1kg |
| Total Excluding Shoes and Boots | 1.3kg |
| Total Including Shoes and Boots | 3.3kg |
Number of food factory employees: 200
Washing load = 200×1.3 = 260kg
Food factory cleanliness levels are usually Class 1000 or above, and barrier washer extractors are generally not required.
Equipped Daily Washing Capacity (Calculated Based on 4 Working Hours per Day)
1. If one 80kg washing machine is equipped, each cycle takes 50 minutes/cycle (including loading and unloading time) and can wash 80kg of dry garments. Based on 4 working hours per day:
Daily number of washing cycles: 4×60÷50 = 4.8 --- approximately 4 cycles
Daily washing capacity: 4×80 = 320kg/day (washing operation time: 3.3 hours)
2. If one 80kg dryer is equipped, each drying cycle takes 50 minutes/cycle (including loading and unloading time) and can dry all linen from the drum of an 80kg washing machine
Total washing and drying time: 50 minutes × 5 = 250 minutes = 4.1 hours
| Batch | Batch 1 | Batch 2 | Batch 3 | Batch 4 | Batch 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Process Duration | 50 minutes | 50 minutes | 50 minutes | 50 minutes | 50 minutes |
| Process 1 | Washing | Washing | Washing | Washing | Washing |
| Process 2 | Drying | Drying | Drying | Drying | Drying |
If the laundry room working time in the food factory must be less than 4 hours, it is recommended to replace the 80kg washing machine and 80kg dryer with a 100kg washing machine and a 100kg dryer.
Based on the above data calculation, the recommended laundry equipment configuration is as follows
| No. | Name | Model/Specification | Quantity (Unit) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 80kg Fully Automatic Washer Extractor | XGQ-80F | 1 |
| 2 | Fully Automatic Dryer | GZZ-80Q | 1 |
| 13 | Spotting Table | SP-1A | 1 |
| 14 | Single-Arm Ironing Table | HL-101-S1 | 1 |
| 15 | Stainless Steel Linen Cart | 1180*700*830 mm | 2 |
